Catalan Conversation Meetup

Living in the Bay Area affords us lots of wonderful opportunities, but learning català has not been one of them… until now! If you are learning Catalan, or want to maintain your skills in the language, we invite you to join us our Catalan language Meetup.

“Is it for me?”

Maybe you fell in love with Catalunya and want to find a deeper connection during your next visit through speaking the region’s cherished language.

Or it could be that you fell in love with a Catalan home or dona and it is spoken in your house and now you want to know when they’re talking about you! Maybe you discovered the Duolingo Catalan course and want to take your skills to the next level. Perhaps you are a native speaker and want to keep your language skills sharp. Or possibly you are a native speaker of català and want to share your affection for it through teaching new learners. It could be you just want to meet others to discuss everything taking place back home. If any of these apply, this group is for you.

“Let me get it on my calendar… when is it?”

It will be a monthly event for now, usually the second Wednesday of the month. Head over to the webpage for the Bay Area Catalan Language Meetup to see the upcoming events. Please RSVP directly on Meetup so we know to look out for you. There’s an option to add it directly to your calendar.

“Molt bé! On és? … Where are we meeting?”

We found a casual setting with great food, beer-on-tap, and even an old-school Video Arcade for kids or fun-loving adults. It’s a new place called State of Mind Public House & Pizzeria.

It’s in Los Altos, a lovely and quiet South Bay city where you won’t have to fight traffic or aggravate over parking spots. Don’t worry, you don’t need to order anything, you can just come and join our table. But if you want to eat or drink, just head up to the cashier and they’ll give you a number to bring back to the table so you can jump right into the conversation.

They’ll bring your pizza, wings or other yummies when it’s ready. (Sorry, no pa amb tomàquet on the menu yet… but we’ll work on it.)

Looking forward to seeing you there!
